Today they let me out the door, "You're cured," they said "We can do no more!"
So I'm out, I'm out, I'm out at last - look to the future, not the past.
Came back to an empty flat, no budgie, dog or pussy cat;
No warming words of welcome home, no pleasure seen or pleasure shown -
But on the table, gleaming bright a welcome, welcome shiny sight!
I grabbed those keys in just a flash, made down the stairs and with a crash
Flung the garage doors back wide - beheld my little car inside.

Down the street, along the lane, so good to breathe fresh air again.
Away from houses, towns and city, looks of hate and looks of pity.
Overhead, the clouds grow weary, sky looks bleak, sky looks dreary.
Spit-a-spat; a liquid drop starts the rain that will not stop.
Windscreen wipers swish and swoosh as water pellets hit the roof.
But I'm inside my little car, dry and warm and travelling far -
Mustn't stop, there's work to do - now I'm here to see it through.

Splishing splashing rain on road, squishing, mashing over toad.
Lights flash on and horn goes beep. Have to swerve to catch that sheep.
Drizzle drazzle, puddle-splat. Just can't miss that farmyard cat.
Going fast now down the hill. Fluffy bunny on the grille.
Dashboard clock it ticks and tocks seconds off the life of fox.
Tight-curled hedgehog doesn't feel a thing as I grip tight the wheel.
Silly squirrel, prancing, leaping - Soon you'll be forever sleeping.
Doggie runs as fast as that! Too slow doggie - now you're flat.
Sparrow flutters, sparrow hops, Sparrow chirps, sparrow pops.
Doe is easy - fear froze fast. Do you see your life flash past?
Frog's ahead - quick moving jumper. Green skinned glove now round my bumper.
Laughing through the engine's roar. Push the pedal to the floor.
Badger, vole and downy duck - guess you've all run out of luck.

The Man can't catch me, just you see -
now I'm flying, now I'm free
To cleanse the world of paw and beak
and things that hop and things that squeak,
And things that growl and things that squawk -
and then the things that walk and talk.
